From the Philippines towards Myanmar

So, I’ve travelled from Banaue back to Manila and from there to Boracay and continuing to KL and finally to Chiang Mai from where I started my journey towards Myanmar this morning.
Picks of the week are these. Night bus from Banaue to Manila was as uncomfortable as they usually are for taller people like myself. Manila traffic is just crazy – in the middle of the night streets are totally congested by heavy traffic that distance of about 10k took almost 2 hrs!
From Manila we moved on to Boracay which is the Philippine party island. I can not really really recommend unless you are into partying and beach life. Mandala Spa is a nice experience if you have some extra money to spend.

From Boracay I went on to Kuala Lumpur where I can definitely recommend Oasia Suites for accommodation as well as Drift (close by Oasia) for dinner. Christmas frenzy has already started in South East Asia – KL Pavilion set up for Christmas was kind of grand.

From KL I moved on to Chiang Mai. It was also interesting to see the new LCCT-terminal now called KLIA2 from where Air Asia now operates. It is a big airport with the related services compared to the old LCCT with McDonald’s. KL is changing and growing fast.

In Chiang Mai I would point you out to Wat Pra Singh (preferably evening time with less people), Wat Umong and the Chiang Mai cabaret. Cabaret is a musical show hosted by local ladyboys which was rather interesting to experience. Doi Suithep is also worth a visit if you get there bright and early or in the afternoon. Daytime it is crowded.

Ok, from here we’re gonna go on towards north. First to Chiang Rai and from there to border crossing of Tachileik. We should reach Kentung by dinner.
