Our visit to Jordan
began with a ferry ride from Nuweiba to Aqaba which is adventure as such –
especially the way how you get your bags back after the ferry is an
unforgettable experience.
On Jordan side we
started from Aqaba and then made our way to Petra after which we headed for
desert in Wadi Rum. Continuing our tour we drove through Karak to the Dead Sea and
to Madaba and finally to Amman where we did a loop to famous Roman city of
Jerash.
In Petra we pretty
much did the basic set: The Treasury, Al-Khubtha trail and the Monestary which is
doable in one day if you are relatively fit or use some animal taxi which is
easily available (not cheap, though). Coming early morning is a very good idea,
because in the morning time it is nice and quiet.
In Wadi Rum we enjoyed
some desert drive including the natural arches you can see when you google Wadi
Rum. Night at the Bedouin camp is not for comfort seekers.
Karak castle was a
short stop as was the Dead Sea – buoyancy is just unbelievable! Madaba mosaics
and some biblical sites like Mt. Nebo were really not my cup of tea.
In Amman outskirts the
(huge) ancient Roman city of Jerash is totally worth to visit unless you have
templed yourself out already in Egypt.
